Timipre Sylva, the APC’s candidate for the upcoming state governorship, has come under fire from some party members in the Bayelsa State chapter for allegedly operating like a one-man operation.
The stakeholders stated that Sylva’s attitude is the reason the APC in Bayelsa is in ruins and in desperate need of oxygen, under the direction of the Bayelsa APC Integrity Group.
The group accused the gubernatorial candidate of excluding many industry veterans from the picture and designating himself as the Campaign Council’s Director General while surrounding himself with only close friends and associates.
In a statement provided to reporters on Thursday, the group’s coordinator, Chief Ebipadeowei Oyinkuro, claimed that with only a few weeks until the election, the goodwill the APC had in Bayelsa had vanished.
In addition to appearing to be entering combat with its flanks wide open, the statement said that the party was completely destroyed and was exhibiting signs of needing oxygen.

Chief Sylva has lost the support of well-respected and powerful party members in the state who are appropriately referred to as the “first and best 11.”
Sen. Douye Diri, the opposition’s candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is openly courting many other party mainstays who never intended to be dissidents.
“They are enraged by Chief Sylva’s haughtiness and his behaviour as though the APC in the state is his private property.”
“To them, his desire to become governor seems like a birthright. The fact that Chief Sylva is running for governor and serving as the chairman of his own campaign sums up the narrative the best. As the running mate, Joshua Macaiver, serves as co-chairman, and his cousin Chief Dennis Otiotio, the state chairman of the Party, serves as alternate chairman. Most members of the remaining campaign council come from Sylva’s social circle.
