The local branch of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State has leveled accusations against the state’s Governor, Ademola Adeleke, saying that he is concealing the truth about the accomplishments of his administration.
In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the state chairman of the party, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, it was recalled that Adeleke, in his capacity as a guest at the 16th Harvest Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service held at Love of Christ Generation Church, C & S, Victoria Island, Lagos, last Sunday, reeled out some of the projects that were unknown to his administration and some that were executed by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola.
According to the APC, Adeleke spoke about fictitious projects as well as those of his predecessor, which garnered him accolades from Olusegun Obasanjo, who praised him for mixing active public duty with dancing.
In continuation of his response, Lawal stated, “It is not an understatement to proclaim that Adeleke does not warrant any honors for any reason as he is yet to prove his mettle that he has what it takes to properly manage Osun State.”
“One would have expected Governor Adeleke to be a man and bold enough to tell former President Obasanjo that the rehabilitation of the Osogbo-Ikirun road, which his administration has been laying claim of having completed within 100 days in office, was already completed by 75 per cent by the administration of former Governor Oyetola. However, this did not happen. ” “One would have expected Governor Adeleke to be a man.”
“One would have expected Governor Adeleke to be truthful enough to inform the former President that the foundation of the Ilesa University was one of the landmark achievements of the immediate-past governor of the state,” the author writes. “One would have expected Governor Adeleke to tell the former President that the founding of the Ilesa University was one of the landmark achievements.”
But in response to the APC chairman’s claim, the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Sunday Bisi, criticized the APC for trying to minimize Adeleke’s performance and noted that the position of the opposition party would not change the fact that the current administration has accomplished a great deal.
Bisi stated that, “For Sooko Lawal, he will go down as a politician who is always at war with the truth no matter how blatant it is.” He took his well-known propensity for bending truth to the most disgusting height by openly contesting the lines of achievements of Governor Adeleke in the last ten months. This elevated his behavior to the level of most despicable.
“It is illogical, if not insanity, for Sooko Lawal and the APC to refuse Governor Adeleke the credit for the construction of the 10 kilometer Osogbo-Ikirun dual carriage road. The road is a dual carriageway. In contrast to the misleading position taken by Sooko Lawal, the road is in the condition it is in today because of the pragmatic leadership of Governor Adeleke, which was duly acknowledged by the contractor handling the project. If it hadn’t been for Governor Adeleke’s leadership, the road could have suffered the same fate as many other projects that were abandoned during the Oyetola administration.
“While we empathize with the APC for lacking the character and capacity to appropriately carry out its opposition role, we must caution that it would be making a grave mistake to imagine that it can hoodwink the public with lies and reckless stance that seems to define its strategy lately. This would be a terrible mistake,”
