The state governor of Benue, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, altered the rotational principle within its immediate vicinity, and the “Tombo Coalition” group in that state has expressed grave worry.
In a statement released and made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday, the group’s leader, Elder Saawuan Tyokyaa, made this claim.
The current government of governor Alia, according to Tyokyaa, has carelessly abandoned a system of rotating political appointments that had been in place since the current political regime. The commissioners from the Tombo clan have only ever been chosen from the Mbaakyaa and Mbakyongo council wards, he claimed, since the advent of democratic rule in 1999.
The Tombo Coalition, speaking out against the governor’s current wrongdoings as a communal wrong, resolutely addresses these historical injustices.
The Tombo people, who had once looked to him for guidance, now feel betrayed by his broken promises and biased judgments. With a single stroke of his pen, Governor Alia has abandoned the APC’s long-held commitment to the fundamental values of equity and fairness.

The very foundational principles of our great party, the APC—equity, fairness, and the honor of respecting party agreements—have been deliberately undermined.
According to Tyokyaa, the Tombo people of the state’s Buruku local government region denounced the governor for rejecting Dr. Kaalu Akerkpev, one of their sons, whose nomination for the position of Commissioner was later withdrawn.
This nomination, which was an unquestionable entitlement, was summarily rejected by Governor Alia, dealing a terrible blow to party values and displaying a startling disrespect for the meticulously balanced distribution of roles.
You may recall that governor Alia installed 17 commissioners and 23 special advisers on Tuesday.
