3 die as Toyota Sienna plunges into river along Sagamu-Benin expressway

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, a Toyota Sienna sedan that was travelling along the Sagamu-Benin motorway on Saturday crashed into a river, causing the deaths of three people.

The event was confirmed by Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) public education officer in Ogun.
Three adult males were among the dead, according to Okpe, while another person was hurt.

She said:

The incident happened around 11:55 a.m., and the vehicle’s loss of control and excessive speed are thought to be the causes of the crash.

The car with the licence plate APP 830 HX was travelling from Benin to Lagos.

The injured victim, according to the FRSC spokesperson, was brought to Hope Clinic J4 in the state’s Ijebu-East local government area.

The State General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu-Ode is where the bodies of people who have passed away were placed, she stated.

According to Anthony Uga, the state sector commander of the FRSC, speeding by drivers, particularly those operating commercial vehicles, is the main contributing factor to traffic accidents, according to Okpe.

But in this instance, the FRSC sector commander praised the rescue operation’s use of local divers.

“We also feel for the families of the deceased, and we urge them to get in touch with the FRSC Ogbere outpost for more details about the crash,” she continued.
