Nigeria’s high commissioner to the UK, Sarafa Isola, has been called back by President Bola Tinubu.
The announcement of the high commissioner’s recall is made in a letter from Yusuf Tuggar, minister of foreign affairs, dated August 31.
“I have the honour to inform you that Mr. President has decided to recall you, indicating the end of your term as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

In accordance with this notification, you are now required to start winding up your affairs, seek formal leave from your host government within 60 days, and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023, according to the letter.
Tuggar congratulated the ambassador for his service and wished him luck in his future ambitions on behalf of Tinubu.
In January 2021, Isola was appointed as the high commissioner to the UK by the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Under the late former President Musa Yar’Adua, Isola also served as Minister for Mines and Steel Development.
