The council members of Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State sacked Wale Adedayo after he filed a complaint with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The chairman was reportedly suspended for three months by a majority of council members due to purported financial mismanagement and administrative misconduct. Adedayo responded to the news by saying that the claim might be accurate given that on August 21st, at around 5:00 a.m., a group of police officers and thugs attacked the council secretariat. Ads by “It could be real,” he remarked. Along with thugs this morning, police officers barraged the office. As a result of Governor Abiodun’s attempt to remove Adedayo from office, it was earlier reported on Thursday that hundreds of mobile police officers had taken control of the secretariat. The suspended council chairman claimed in his plea to the EFCC that the state’s local governments had not received kobo from the governor’s federal budget.
