The Lagos State Government has ordered all basic schools, including nursery, primary, and secondary institutions, to reopen on Monday, September 4, 2023, in preparation for the 2023–2024 academic year.
The Lagos State Ministry of Basic Education approved the 2023–2024 Harmonised Academic School Calendar, which the Director General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, stated during a news conference on Monday in Alausa.

She said that the unified school calendar is available on the agency’s website for use by parents, school administrators, and members of the general public in the whole state.
As schools get ready to resume, she also pleaded with owners and school officials to guarantee strict adherence to the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
As the state government is still committed to providing high-quality education, the DG emphasized that “complete compliance with all safety protocols on school grounds is required for a safe learning environment.”
