First Lady hosts Service Chiefs wives, says greater Nigeria is imminent

According to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Nigerians should look beyond the country’s current circumstances and consider the bigger picture, which has hope for the future.

The Wives of Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police were present when she spoke on Tuesday in her office. Mrs. Oghogho Musa, the President of the Defense and Police Wives Association and the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, led the group.

The First Lady reassured that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was making every effort to mitigate the effects of the removal of fuel subsidies until the benefits of the policy started to become apparent.

She claimed that the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ (RHI), a side project of hers, was also aiding the government in this matter, which is why she was pleading with the wives of the Service Chiefs for their support.

“We will occasionally need your various Associations, at the very least to be able to reach out to women in your various barracks and reassure them that we mean well for this country, that they should be patient, and that whatever we can do to alleviate the hardships the subsidy has meted out to us, we believe there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

“It is a greater Nigeria we are looking out for and it is a legacy that we would leave for our children and generations yet unborn, we would look for the good of this nation and also look for the wealth of this country can be greater enhanced,” she said.

According to a press release from her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady also stated that the RHI would soon be assisting frightened widows of military fallen officers.

Mrs. Musa gave the reaffirmed hope initiative partners in all of the areas of its coverage, including agriculture, education, health, economic empowerment, and social investment, by assuring that the various Associations under the umbrella of police and military officers’ wives are prepared to work with it.

Because all of these are topics that the Associations are interested in, she said it was significant.

The First Lady was then decorated with the title of Grand Matron of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, which is an honor due to her under the various associations’ bylaws.
