Nyesom Wike, once the governor
Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has been welcomed on his appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the FCT Youth Network.
The titles of President Bola Tinubu’s ministers were made public by the Presidency on Wednesday night.
The Director General of the ACCI, Victoria Akai, congratulated Wike and stated that the Chamber thought his record of fostering economic growth in Rivers State would benefit the FCT. She also expressed hope that the minister would give the challenges faced by members priority and welcome input from the private sector.
The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry extends its congratulations to Nyesom Wike on being named the new FCT Minister. The Federal Capital Territory will profit from Mr. Wike’s leadership abilities and track record of fostering economic development and progress in Rivers State, in our opinion.
“We look forward to working with him and his team to improve Abuja’s economic climate, draw in additional investments, and ease trade and commerce.
“We expect that the new minister will give top priority to the important issues and problems that our members confront, such as the improvement of the infrastructure, business-friendly conditions, security, and policy coherence. Additionally, we implore the minister to work with the private sector and consider our comments and recommendations in order to reach amicable agreements.
Similarly, Umar Mankeri, the FCT Youth Network’s Youth Leader, praised the President for naming Wike as the FCT minister and expressed confidence that “he will perform what he has done as governor of Rivers State.”
Mankeri, who expressed faith in Wike’s expertise and experience as a former governor and minister, requested the minister to look into the problems of population increase and youth unemployment in the FCT.
It’s important to remember that everyone agrees that as the minister of the FCT, you’ll break records. As the population in the FCT has been increasing, the FCT Youth Network would appreciate it if you could check into our problems. And the problem of unemployment, which has made our nation poor.
According to TheNigerian, the President would administer the oath of office to the newly chosen ministers on Monday, August 21, 2023.
