Soldiers killed 28 terrorists, detained 114 offenders in two weeks

Between August 7 and August 17, 2023, military conducted operations across the nation, killing no less than 28 terrorists and detaining 114 criminals.

92 terrorists, six gunrunners, three kidnappers, six collaborators, and seven suspected oil thieves are among the criminals detained, according to the Defence Headquarters.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, director of defense media operations, said this on Thursday in Abuja while briefing journalists on military operations during the time period under consideration.

Buba also reported the rescue of 82 kidnapped individuals.

The men and women in the armed services will keep putting their lives in danger again to defend our wonderful country, he declared.

The military apprehended 92 terrorists, 28 terrorists, six gunrunners, three kidnappers, six collaborators, and seven oil thieves in the weeks preceding August 17, 2023. They also neutralized 28 terrorists. Additionally, troops freed 82 kidnapped hostages and confiscated N876,451,800.00 from oil thieves.

Buba went on to say that 108 weapons and 564 rounds of ammunition were all that the forces managed to retrieve.

“In total, troops found 108 guns and 564 rounds of ammunition. Here is the breakdown: 22 AK47 rifles, 1 PKT gun, 6 pump action guns, 4 Dane guns, 1 fabricated rifle, 1 Galil Ace rifle, 1 RGP bomb, 1 RPG tube, 44 hand grenades, 322 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 63 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 12 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, 33 AK47 magazines, 1 empty case of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 3 empty magazines, he added.

According to him, criminals across the nation had also left with 14 motorcycles, 16 mobile phones, three Motorolla radios, one Boafeng radio, two motorcycle tires, five touch lights, two solar panels, 104 animals, and N2,896,400.

He said that 36 dugout pits, 62 wooden boats, 73 storage tanks, one truck, and 75 cooking ovens were among the items that the forces in the Niger Delta region found and destroyed.

“Other items include 33 illegal refinery sites, five outboard motors, and four pumps. Additionally, troops found 1,166,900 liters of stolen crude oil, 1,491,250 liters of illegally refined AGO, 54,750 liters of DPK, and 800 liters of PMS, the official said.
