NDLEA confiscates156,575 tramadol pills in five states, FCT in two weeks

In the past two weeks, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, at least 156,575 tramadol pills and other illegal drugs have been taken into custody in five states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Mr. Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s spokesman, listed the states as Enugu, Anambra, Ondo, Lagos, and Ogun in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja. He claimed that two suspects, Abdulrazak Bala and Lawal Salisu, had at least 156,380 of the pills taken from them.

His reports state that on Saturday, July 29, two alleged drug dealers were apprehended on the Gwagwalada-Abaji Highway in the Federal Capital Territory. In Sagamu, Ogun, where one Femi Isiaka was detained on Thursday, July 26, he continued, NDLEA agents also discovered a “Skuchies” factory.

The factory yielded 37 kg of Indian hemp, 195 Tramadol pills, 5,000 Diazepam tablets, and 216 Rophynol tablets.

Four refrigerators, four gas cylinders, one industrial cooker, and 204 liters of “skuchies” were also found.

On Tuesday, July 25, Babafemi reported, “A container load of nitrous oxide, more commonly known as laughing gas, linked to a 30-year-old businessman, Stephen Eze, was seized at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

“On July 13, at the Apapa Port, the suspect’s two containers of laughing gas from China were earlier discovered.

The third shipment was stopped during a joint inspection of the container with the marking SUDU7431605 that contained 8,336 Nitrous Oxide canisters and pressure release nozzles, Babafemi continued.

In a subsequent development, he reported that two suspects, Francis Diamond (26) and Adekunle Damilola (26), were detained in Ondo State’s Ita-Ogbolu Forest while in possession of 247.5kg of Indian hemp.

According to the NDLEA spokesman, a suspect, Farouk Umar (38), was detained after a suspect Volkswagen Golf Car carrying 308kg of Indian hemp was stopped at Airport Junction on the Akure-Ogbese Road on Wednesday, July 26.

On July 29, a 32-year-old suspect named Chukwuma Nnaji was detained with 47kg of “Skunk” in a warehouse located at Onuogba Eke in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Twelve kilograms of the same substance were also found during the raid in a lockup shop.

“A grandfather, Boniface Ogwurlobi (62), and a man named Chimezie Onyenjuru were taken into custody in Uli town in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra with 49.415 kg of Indian hemp, 127.7 g of methamphetamine, and 15 g of cocaine.

“On Friday, July 28, this occurred during a raid.
