The fight between Department of State Services agents and Nigerian Correctional Service agents over Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been denounced by the Nigerian Bar Association.
In a statement released by its president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), on Wednesday, the NBA demanded that the two agencies take action against their employees for their “disgraceful conduct.”
The DSS brought Emefiele before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday after holding him for more than a month on illegal firearms-related charges.
Emefiele was released on N20 million bail, and Justice Nicholas Oweibo mandated that he be held in the Nigeria Correctional Service’s Ikoyi facility pending the completion of his bail requirements.
