Three senior police officers have been dismissed due to “serious misconduct,” according to the Police Service Commission.
Five additional people were found wanting in their official duties, and the commission approved their promotion.
The decisions were among the highlights of the commission’s 21st plenary, which ended on Thursday, July 20, 2023, according to a statement released by the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, on Friday.
Two Deputy Superintendents of Police and one Assistant Superintendent of Police were among the dismissed police officers, according to the PSC.
“One Chief Superintendent of Police, one Superintendent, one Deputy Superintendent, and two Assistant Superintendents of Police were reduced in rank for misconduct.”
In addition, it stated that 14 received severe punishment, six received punishment, and seven received warning letters.
