Shettima leads meeting of NEC at State House

The monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting is being presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja.

The constitutional economic advisory body of government will meet on Thursday for the second time since President Bola Tinubu’s administration took office on May 29, 2023.

The 36 federation governors, as well as the finance ministers, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Mele Kyari, the group chief executive officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), are all members of the NEC.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, his colleague Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, the deputy governor of Enugu State, arrive early for the meeting scheduled for 11 a.m.

Governor Inuwa Yahya of Gombe State and his colleagues from Zamfara, Katsina, Kwara, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Bauchi, Kaduna, Senator Uba Sani, Delta, Sheriff Obrevwori, and Kebbi are also in attendance.

Other governors include Prof Charles Soludo of Anambra, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Mai Mala Bunu of Yobe, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, Ahmad Aliu of Sokoto, Caleb Mutfwang of the Plateau, Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, and Deputy Governor David Onoja of Kogi State.
