The appointments of the Chief of Defence Staff and three service chiefs have been approved by the Senate of Nigeria.
There have been reports that the confirmation was made during plenary on Thursday, after the Senate had considered the request made by President Bola Tinubu for the confirmation of the appointments.
Following are the confirmed positions of service chiefs:
Chief of Staff of the Defence Force, Major General Christopher Musa
Chief of Staff of the Army Major General Taoheed Lagbaja Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogala Chief of Staff of the Air Force Air Vice Marshal Halidu Abubakar Chief of Staff of the Air Force
The request for the Senate to confirm the nomination of the service chiefs came from a letter that President Tinubu sent to the Senate on Monday. In the letter, President Tinubu requested that the Upper Chamber confirm the nomination of the service chiefs.
A previous report from the Godswill Akpabio-led Senate suggested that the screening of the service chiefs would take place on Thursday. This came about after it was discovered by this newspaper that preparations were being made within the chamber, indicating that the screening might take place today.
