Today, President Bola Tinubu will bring together governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a meeting that will be convened by him.
It was reported that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who was just recently elected Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, will preside over the meeting, which is reportedly going to take place at the State House.
Since President Tinubu’s inauguration earlier this week, this gathering represents their first official meeting together since then. The APC governors are also in attendance.
Nine of the governors in attendance were just recently elected, while the other 11 are vying for re-election to their respective posts.
According to a reliable source who was familiar with the planned meeting, the agenda would cover topics such as the selection of National Assembly leadership positions, ministerial appointments, and the general direction the government should take moving forward.
It is common knowledge that a good number of the governors, who have already compiled a list of preferred candidates from their respective states, will take advantage of this opportunity to make their recommendations to the president.
President Tinubu has committed to ensuring that the participation of all relevant stakeholders in the process of forming his new government.
In addition, it is anticipated that discussions will revolve around the current state of affairs as a direct result of the elimination of the fuel subsidy.
As a result of the removal of the subsidy, the price of a litre of gasoline has risen to as high as N750 across the country, and it is expected that the president will discuss the measures that his administration has taken to mitigate the negative effects of this development.
