Delta governor: “I’ll continue Okowa’s legacy.”

Sheriff Oborevwori, the newly elected governor of Delta State, stated his intention to continue the work of his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Monday. He also added that in order to strengthen the state’s economy, he would pay special attention to Warri, the region’s commercial centre.

Oborevwori pledged to support private sector growth, strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises, and maintain the various Social Welfare Investment Programmes in his inaugural speech after being sworn in at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

He continued by saying that his administration would see to it that all ongoing projects—particularly those involving physical infrastructure like roads, bridges, schools, and other buildings—were completed.

The day “marks the beginning not only of a new administration, but of an era that will advance Delta State to greater heights in people-centered policies, human capital development, and infrastructure renewal,” according to Oborevwori.

“We will expand the agricultural value chain, which is a key engine of long-term economic expansion. Given that agro-industrial parks have the potential to increase employment opportunities, produce wealth, lower unemployment rates, and enhance food security, this administration will stop at nothing to ensure that their development is accelerated.
