On Friday, May 26, President Muhammadu Buhari issued an order mandating that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and all other departing officials in the federal government publish a declaration of their assets.
The Declaration of Assets Form for the President was reportedly delivered to him by Prof. Isah Mohammed, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB. This information was gathered.

Declaring one’s assets prior to assuming public office is mandated by the Constitution as a prerequisite for serving in those capacities.
When he received the form, President Buhari gave a speech in which he stated that his strict adherence to the constitutional requirement of assets declaration both before and after he took office was intended to strengthen best practises, raise moral standards in the Public Service, help build integrity, and combat corruption.
As a result of this, he issued an order mandating that all departing officials, elected and appointed, beginning with the Vice President and working their way down must collect the assets declaration form, fill it out, and return it just as he has done.
While President Buhari was in the process of collecting his form from Professor Mohammed, he made the statement that no one is exempt from the constitutional duty of declaring their assets.
“I signed, collected, and acknowledged receiving my form,” he claimed to have said. From this vantage point, I will make a request to the bank manager in Kaduna to show me the transactions that have been made into and out of my account. No one is exempt from the requirement to declare their assets. I anticipated that everyone, starting with the Vice President and working their way down, would comply with the system.

According to Professor Mohammed, the Bureau was able to achieve 99% compliance by elected and appointed officials because of the President’s compliance over the course of the past eight years and the support he provided to the Bureau.
He also thanked the President for his help in achieving the digitization of the organization’s services and operations, which enabled the organisation to begin investigations into cases in a more timely manner.
