The electrocution of two employees of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company in Lagos State was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday.
The incident happened on Lagos Island in the Obalande region.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer in Lagos, confirmed the incident.
According to Hundeyin, another employee of the EKEDC from Lagos Island reported the case to the Lion Building Division of the command on Saturday at 5:55 p.m.
He claimed that the EKEDC employee informed him that on Saturday, one of his coworkers, 51-year-old Umaru, died after being electrocuted while excavating to find a damaged transformer cable at the P&T Obalende area.

In the process, a 48-year-old coworker by the name of Sunday Awaruwa who attempted to save the victim was also electrocuted.
“In response to the report, detectives went to the scene, took pictures, freed the victims, and took them to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where the attending physician pronounced them dead.
The IDH mortuary in Yaba received their remains for an autopsy. Investigation is ongoing in the interim, he said.
