Details of the President’s accomplishments with the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, an initiative aimed at reducing poverty throughout Nigeria, are starting to come to light as his administration, led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), slowly draws to a close.
According to recent reports, the Committee of NPRGS’ choice to take a different approach based on a sensible strategy has, in less than a year of operation, had an effect on millions of Nigerians in a variety of sectors. Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president, serves as the committee’s chair.
A media update from Mr. Laolu Akande, the vice president’s spokesman, confirmed the development and stated that “almost two million vulnerable Nigerians have been impacted by various projects implemented by the NPRGS Committee for the year 2022 in agriculture, rural roads construction, and skills and vocational training.”
The Buhari administration’s plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years will not be based on a business as usual approach, but rather a very simple, common-sense strategy that will deliver the results as the President promised, Prof. Osinbajo said in a statement regarding the committee’s effectiveness.

He explained that the Committee made significant progress in a short amount of time as a result of the strategy it adopted.
According to reports, the Agriculture for Jobs Plan has impacted 1.6 million smallholder farmers, and 13,000 youths have received training through a Technical and Vocational Education and Training program in six states, including Lagos, Ogun, Enugu, Gombe, Kaduna, and Nasarawa.
Additionally, Akande stated that plans are already in motion to offer similar training to 2000 beneficiaries in the state of Edo.
The Construction of Rural Roads program and the Agriculture for Food and Jobs Plan, among others, are some of the programs that have achieved 100% completion for the 2022 cycle, according to the NPRGS implementation monitoring update that Akande published.
