Sanwo-Olu reiterates his dedication to corporate governance

The partnership between Lagos State and the Institute of Directors to strengthen corporate governance principles has been promised to be maintained by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

This was said by Sanwo-Olu at the IoD 40th anniversary gala in Lagos on Wednesday with the theme “Celebrating 40 years of visionary leadership and corporate governance,” which was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hamzat Obafemi.

In light of the IoD’s primary objective of promoting good corporate governance, which is essential to any effective and well-managed organization, he said the partnership was crucial.

“This administration has been promoting the fundamentals of corporate governance in all facets of governance, including project management, financial management, human resource management, and others,” the governor said.

“I make the bold claim that it is a significant contributor to the continued improvement in the growth trajectory of the economy and the capacity to meet expectations as well as manage the challenges of a megacity and the requirements of the 21st century,” the author says.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan also spoke, praising the IoD for setting the standard for good corporate governance.

Jonathan said, “I encourage you to continue carrying out your objective of enhancing public policy and advocacy as you build the capacity of directors through well-developed programs, mentoring, and sound ethical practices with your rich cadre of membership.

Dr. Ije Jidenma, president of the IoD, stated that the organization would keep growing its local and international partnerships to push the boundaries of good corporate governance practices.

Jonathan stated, “I must say that the adoption of corporate governance in all organizations would address the issues of corruption, dishonesty, subpar governance, and even electoral mismanagement.
