The Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, who was seen beating a police officer in uniform in a viral video, has been ordered to be detained right away by the Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police, per an order from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR.
According to sources, the IGP has also mandated a comprehensive and prompt inquiry into the event to ascertain what exactly caused the assault. This was stated in a statement made by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According on the results of the inquiry, the suspect will be prosecuted, the statement added.

The Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti was seen on film beating a police officer while wearing a uniform. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to place Kuti under arrest.
The IGP has also mandated a prompt, thorough inquiry into the underlying and immediate cause(s) of the assault and subsequent prosecution of the suspect.
IGP Usman Alkali Baba warns Nigerians that disrespect for official symbols will not be condoned and that those who commit such heinous crimes will be brought to justice.

Seun Kuti responded to the incident, which generated a lot of buzz on social media, by explaining what happened on his Instastory on Saturday. He said the cop tried to hurt him and his family, but the officer later apologized, and he was pardoned.
Kuti also urged individuals who accused him of doing it for attention to stop and desist in order to save the police officer from losing his job.
