Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has denied rumours that he is vying for the position of Chief of Staff in President-elect Sen. Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
El-Rufai stated this to journalists in Gombe on Saturday.
According to reports, El-Rufai was in the state to inaugurate the construction of 550 housing units and the Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) Service Centre.
He called the reports on the various portfolios assigned to him and published in national dailies “mere speculations.”
The governor stated that he is more interested in contributing to Nigeria’s development than in jockeying for positions.

El-Rufai stated that being in government was not the only way to contribute to Nigeria’s development, and that even if he was not in government, he would remain committed to the country’s progress.
“I haven’t had that conversation with the president-elect, and I don’t like to speculate.”
“I read in the newspapers about various portfolios assigned to me, but you know, I am a dedicated Nigerian.”
“I want to see my country progress, and whatever I can do to help the country develop, I will do.”
“But I don’t have to do it because I work in government.” Everyone who works in the private sector or in civil society makes a contribution.
“There is no one way to contribute to the country, and I will never stop working for Nigeria’s advancement,” he stated.
The governor stated that when he leaves office in the next 22 days, he will take a break but will be available to provide advice on how to move the country forward if needed.

“I will be in the private sector, not as a chief of staff.” “I’ll take a break and advise people like Governor Inuwa Yahaya if they need it,” he said.
On Tinubu’s presidency beginning May 29, El-Rufai stated that Nigerians would not be sorry for voting for the president-elect, emphasizing that better days were ahead for Nigerians under Tinubu.
