In response to allegations of wrongdoing, Mr. Jare Ajayi, its publicity secretary, and Mr. Abagun Kole Omololu, its organizing secretary, have been suspended by Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba sociopolitical organization.
The group also argued that a number of irregularities rendered the presidential election of February 25, 2023, inadmissible.
This was stated in a statement released after the Afenifere meeting on Tuesday, which was held at Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the group’s leader, residence in Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State.
Chief Sola Ebiseni, the association’s national secretary general, issued a statement from Akure, the state’s capital, making the call.

The group claimed in the communiqué that the suspension of the two officers was indefinite.
Jare Ajayi, the national publicity secretary, and Abagun Kole Omololu, the head of the national organizing committee, were cited by Afenifere as engaging in impolite behavior and making unapproved statements in its name as well as regularly disparaging the organization.
The group that insisted Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate for president, had won the previous election said it still adhered to that claim.
Parts of the communiqué stated: “We support Peter Obi’s decision to contest the INEC’s contrary declaration because the results of the legal votes cast in the presidential election are clear that he won the election, as confirmed by credible sources available to the Afenifere.
“We reiterate that the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s next president must come from the country’s southern region, more specifically the South-East, for equity, fairness, national cohesion, and peaceful corporate existence.”
