PDP removes Ayu from his position as National Chair

Iyorchia Ayu has been removed from his position as national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which has resulted in his suspension from the party.

Benue state’s Igyorov Ward’s branch of the party’s executive committee is responsible for Ayu’s suspension from the party. This occurred in the Gboko Local Government Area (LGA).

Mr. Vangeryina Dooyum, the Ward Secretary, spoke to the media on Sunday on behalf of Kashi Philip, the Ward Chairman. He explained that Dr. Ayu was suspended by the Executive for alleged anti-party activities. Mr. Philip is the Ward Chairman.

According to the statement made by the Secretary, the decision to suspend the National Chairman was arrived at after the leadership analyzed his behavior following the conclusion of the general elections that had just taken place.

According to him, “We observed with the utmost dismay that, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu who is the National Chairman of the PDP worked against the success of the party in Igyorov Council Ward.” He said this was the case.

It is on record that he has also failed to pay his annual subscription fees as required by Section 8 (9) of the PDP 2017 Constitution (As Amended).

“Further investigation revealed that, during the Governorship and State Assembly Elections that were held on March 18, 2023, he did not cast a ballot in either of those elections.

“It was also found out that the majority of his closest allies worked for the opposition party, the All Progressive Congress, or APC, which explains why the People’s Democratic Party did so poorly in Igyorov Ward,”

“In light of the aforementioned, we have decided to cast a vote of no confidence in Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and to immediately suspend him from his membership in our party,” the statement read. “This action will take immediate effect.” Beginning on March 24, 2023, the suspension will go into effect.
