Gunmen set fire to the headquarters of the Nnewi South Local Government in Anambra State on Thursday.
Several buildings were set ablaze, including the education office, the traditional rulers’ conference room, and the works department.
On the grounds, a security guard was also killed.
Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, denounced the attack during a visit to the area on Thursday.

Governor Soludo called the incident “mindless and careless.”
Governor Soludo questioned what could have justified the destruction of public property when inspecting the extent of the damage with the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng, and the State Director of the Department of State Services.
When captured, he promised that the criminals would face the full force of the law.
