Police in Katsina State said they thwarted and foiled a terrorist attack on Barewa village in the Batagarawa Local Government Area, recovering six hoodlums’ motorcycles in the process.
SP Isah Gambo, the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to SP Gambo, terrorists on motorcycles were seen in large numbers heading to Barawa village, armed with AK-47 rifles, and the police were alerted.
In response, a combined police and military team was dispatched to the area, where they engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gunfight and successfully repelled them, with the terrorists fleeing as a result of the combined teams’ operational strategy and gallantry.

Five bandits’ operational motorcycles were recovered and burned down by the combined team during the scan, according to SP Gambo, while another bandits’ motorcycle abandoned in Barawa forest was recovered by the Batagarawa Divisional Police Officer.
Many of the terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds, according to SP Gambo.
As a result, he urged community members to report any person found with a suspicious injury to the nearest security formation.
CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, the State Commissioner of Police, praised and praised the personnel’s efforts in repelling the terrorists.
He urged members of the public to continue to work with security agencies in the state’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
