The incident that resulted in the death of Oluwabamise Ayanwole, a 22-year-old woman, was described by the driver of a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle.

The bus driver, identified as Andrew Nice by the police, claimed his bus was robbed at gunpoint by unknown individuals.

Nice revealed this in a video clip shared on Monday night on Twitter by Gbenga Omotosho, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy.

The suspect, who claimed innocence in the video, stated that he had no involvement in the death of the fashion designer and was only acting on the orders of their abductors, who held him and Bamise hostage in the bus.

Nice claimed he fled because the circumstances surrounding Bamise’s death overwhelmed him.

“When those guys showed me their weapons, I couldn’t be myself anymore,” he said of what happened on the bus. Fear overtook me, and all I did was obey the orders of the man with the gun who sat next to me.

“I followed the Carter Bridge until I reached the overhead bridge, where they told me to come to a halt.” And when they told me to stop and asked me to open the door, her assailants appeared and began dragging her off the bus.

“I was helpless when I saw her crying for help, and I had assumed she was still in the bus, clutching one of the irons that could keep her in the bus.” I moved on in that process and with that thought. And that is just the truth.”

The body of a 22-year-old woman who went missing after boarding a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit vehicle was discovered with some body parts missing on Monday, according to reports.

On February 26, Ayanwole went missing while returning to Ota from Ajah, when she boarded a BRT bus with the number 240257 heading to Oshodi at Chevron Bus-Stop around 7 p.m.

When the victim, who worked as a fashion designer in Ajah and spent her weekends in Ota, Ogun State, with her sister, sensed danger in the bus, she sent some voice notes to a friend.

Nice was arrested in connection with her death after her body was discovered on Monday by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.
