Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, one of the leading candidates in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Osun State, has announced his withdrawal from the race scheduled for Tuesday, March 8.
Senator Ademola Adeleke, one of the aspirants, was allegedly skewed in the process, according to Ogunbiyi, who made the announcement in Osogbo on Monday.
The letter has been made public.
‘I am writing to inform you of my withdrawal from the Osun PDP Gubernatorial Primaries.’
‘This decision became necessary because the process leading up to the primaries is already skewed toward a predetermined outcome, despite various presentations to the NWC for a level playing field for all aspirants.’
‘As a result, I will not be voting in the primaries scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, 2022.’ In the upcoming elections, I wish the party the best of luck.’
‘It is a very difficult decision, but I came to this decision because of the amount of investment, the hope that my personality and leadership would have given to Osun state, but what can you do when you have an umpire who is so biased to the extent of planning with the other group?’ Ogunbiyi continued with our correspondent.

‘We thought that after we used our prayers and everything we had to unseat Secondus as our national party Chairman, Ayu, who is currently in charge, would provide us with good leadership, but he prefers to mingle with Adeleke’s family.’ We went to meet with Ayu and the working committee to express our dissatisfaction with the party’s lack of fairness.
‘Distinguished Senator Ayu has agreed to collaborate with Ademola Adeleke, and I’ve been told not to waste my money. We did everything we could, but I can only come to the conclusion that I must withdraw from a race because they are still planning how to carry out their strategy.
‘Regardless of what we learn from the courts and facts, the people of Abuja will always act in accordance with their leaders’ orders.’ Why should I use my credibility if they have decided to give the primary to distinguished Senator Ademola Adeleke? If they have done so and seen that it has been completed, why should I use mine? I don’t want them to rely on my credibility to support whatever it is that he lacks. As a result, I’ve decided to withdraw from the PDP primary election. I will notify you of my withdrawal in writing.
‘When asked if there would be violence, I stated that I am not a violent person.’ I believe that no one’s blood is worth shedding for my ambition, which is why I am withdrawing from the race. I’m not a violent person; how will I get thugs or neighborhood boys to mobilize or police for security to counter whatever they want to do now that I’m not a violent person?
‘I don’t want to provoke my many supporters, so I’ve decided to withdraw from the race.’ Whatever it is, I will inform my supporters, because for the time being, consider that I, Dr. Akinade Ogunbiyi, have done what I believe is reasonable by withdrawing from the PDP primary election scheduled for Tuesday.’
