Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian government has approved the evacuation of Nigerian students stranded in Sumy.
Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the approval on his Twitter account on Sunday.
He stated that Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, had approved the evacuation to begin on Monday (tomorrow).

“Deep gratitude to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, @DmytroKuleba, for approving the establishment of a humanitarian corridor and authorizing the evacuation of Nigerian students from Sumy beginning tomorrow, as promised.”
“Bus procurement is a major challenge.” We’re working hard to make it happen. Shina Alege, Nigerian Ambassador to Ukraine, has shown tremendous commitment,” he tweeted.
