Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, has urged northern leaders to invest more in education.
The Archbishop made the announcement while answering questions from journalists at the Thanksgiving Mass and Classroom Dedication at St. Anne’s Secondary School in Kakuri, Kaduna State, on Friday.
“Rather than squabbling over political power, our leaders in the North should prioritize education,” he said.

“The Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East is simply due to a lack of education,” Ndagoso continued. The north has held power longer than any other part of the country, and if there is any part of the country that should benefit from education, it is the north, and here we are, we are the worst in almost everything.”
He insisted that Northern leaders were only concerned with political power, and that they needed to sit down, think, and spend more money on education.
Out-of-school children in the North were also on the rise, according to Ndagoso, who added that the government needed to take children off the streets.
Celestina Nevoh, Provincial Superior of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles, Nigerian Province, urged students to work harder in order to best represent Nigeria.
