…Implores President Buhari to sign bill into law.
Over one thousand civil society Organisations early this morning thronged the National Assembly to call on Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and Senate President, Ahmad Lawan to expedite action on the National Youth Service Corps Bill so that President Muhammadu Buhari can sign it into law.
The CSOs led by the Coalition for Good Governance extended their unalloyed appreciation for the way and manner the affairs of the National Assembly has been piloted since it was instituted in 2019.
Led by its President, Comrade Isaac Ikpa, the group specially commended Speaker Gbajabiamila for the dynamic leadership, the Federal House of Representatives has recorded under him.
“We are excited that under your watch, the quality of debate on the floor of the Federal House of Representatives has been noteworthy and robust and whose outcomes have remained in the best interest of the country.
“One of such instances is the reception accorded to the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund Bill, which recently scaled second reading on the Federal House of Representatives floor.
“This is indeed a display of the courage to stand by the truth in service to our fatherland.
Mr Speaker would admit that the proposed NYSC Trust Fund holds the ace in addressing youth unemployment and other issues affecting the country’s critical and sensitive youthful population.

“The NYSC Trust Fund is indeed a game-changer. We are glad that Mr Speaker, in his ebullient and dexterous nature, has identified with the nobility of the provisions of the bill, which is geared towards translating the hopes and aspirations of young Nigerians into tangible realities.
“Mr Speaker, we are using this medium to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your invaluable contributions towards ensuring that the NYSC-Trust Fund bill received the well-deserved accelerated and speedy passage at the various stages in the Federal House of Representatives.
We wish to applaud Mr Speaker and all members of the Federal House of Representatives for their robust contributions in fine-tuning the provisions in the NYSC-TF bill towards making it a vital document that would stand the test of time in our quest for sustainable growth and development”

“Mr Speaker, given the prevailing circumstances and the general acceptance of the NYSC Trust Fund bill, we urge you to transmit the bill to the Senate President and President Muhammadu Buhari for presidential assent” they said.
The group said it is on this heels that the emphasis on harnessing the potentials of our youthful population cannot be overemphasized. The NYSC Trust Fund provides us with the unique opportunity to avail our teeming young people of the medium to actualize their dreams and contribute their quota to sustainable growth and development in the country.
