President Muhammadu Buhari has been praised by the Ijaw Youth Council for signing the revised Electoral Act into law.
Comrade Lugard Izuokumor, Information Officer of the Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, offered the praise in a conversation with Warri, Delta State.
He stated that the country’s electoral process has been fraught with difficulties.
The modified electoral statute, according to Izuokumor, should be recognized since it will provide a legal foundation and a requirement for credible, free, and fair elections.
“They should pick someone who is trustworthy and has a track record of success.” They should go for a pan-Deltan option. He advised them to avoid “all types of social vices and thuggery.”

He advised state politicians not to talk about or discuss zoning in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
He stated that because Delta State is a “multicultural state,” political arrangements should be formed in the interests of fairness, equity, and peace.
He believes the state needs a visionary governor who will continue to build on the accomplishments of the current government, rather than zoning, as it is currently being debated.
He did, however, advise the new governor to establish a strategy for the state’s rapid development.
He also urged lawmakers to always be involved in activities that will bring the country together and lead to prosperity and development.
Izuokumor also praised Delta State Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for keeping the state peaceful.
