Governor Lalong Congratulates Of Winners By-Election

Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, has congratulated the winners of the by-elections for Pankshin South State Constituency and Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, which were held on Saturday, February 26, 2020.

Governor Lalong commended APC candidate Chief Ezra Dakup on winning the Pankshin South State Constituency by-election, as well as PDP candidate Hon. Musa Agah on winning the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency seat.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Makut Simon Macham Lalong praised the people for turning out to vote for their preferred candidates and conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner, ensuring that law and order was maintained throughout the process.

He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the by-elections in a transparent way and ensuring that all parties and candidates had an equal opportunity to campaign and participate in the by-elections.

The governor is particularly pleased with the security agencies’ impartiality and cooperation for INEC and other stakeholders in ensuring a successful outcome, which reaffirms the benefits of the peace process that his Rescue Administration has worked hard to establish since taking office.

The Governor had this to say to the newly elected members:

“The people’s trust in you is demonstrated by your election. You should make every effort to serve the people honestly and diligently, regardless of their tribal, religious, political, or other affiliations. After being elected, the main focus should be on how to enhance people’s lives and work for the Plateau’s greater good. Now that the elections are done, it’s time to get down to business, which necessitates unity, commitment, and sacrifice.”

Lalong pledged his support and assistance in the performance of their duties, encouraging them to go right to work as soon as they are sworn in.
