The NYSC Trust Fund, according to Ventim Bako, Executive Secretary of the National Youth Service Corps Foundation, is needed to provide orientation camp facilities and start-up capital for corps members with entrepreneurial skills.
He told a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday that the fund, once established, would be used to supplement the governments’ efforts to fund the scheme.
He predicted that the government would soon struggle to maintain funding due to the rising number of graduates.
Bako stated that the Foundation had partnered with the NYSC in the construction of camp facilities and the provision of soft loans to ex-corps members as business start-up capital.
He appealed that the Foundation be included in the composition of the Board of the Trust Fund.
