Romanus Amuta, a veteran Nollywood actor best known for his role as ‘Natty’ in ‘New Masquerade,’ has died.
Amuta died at the age of 79 in a Lagos hospital after a long battle with illness.

In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu, his first child, Chukwuma Amuta, confirmed his father’s death and described him as a caring father who did his best to raise his children.
“Yes! “After a long illness, my father died this morning in Lagos,” he told NAN.
In 2014, news of his death went viral but the deceased debunked it, revealing that Ibinabo Fiberesima and other colleagues donated funds for his treatment.
Amuta, who is an indigene of Ukana, in Udi LGA of Enugu State, came into the limelight after he featured in the ‘New Masquerade’.

The TV series was one of the most popular in the 80s.
Amuta is survived by Cordelia, his wife, and six children.
