An abducted student, Hanifa Abubakar, was killed and buried at Noble Kids Academy in Nassarawa Local Government Area.

Hanifa, 5, was abducted on December 4 by her teacher, Abdulmalik Mohammed Tanko, who was later arrested.

Abdulmalik demanded an N6million ransom but killed her after receiving it.

According to the Kano Police Command, Abdulmalik admitted that the victim, Hanifa, was his student at a private school in Kwanar Dakata, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State.

On Friday, Haruna Kiyawa, the Kano Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, said he kidnapped her and took her to his house, demanding a ransom of N6,000,000.

He claimed to have poisoned her and buried her in a shallow grave within the private school premises located at Kwanar ‘Yan Gana, Tudun Murtala Quarters, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State on December 18, 2021.

#JusticeForHanifa trended on Facebook in Nigeria.

Girls are safe? Où sont nos enfants? The question Mmiliaku Genevieve posed on Facebook.

“This is a barbaric act. A sane person would not detach a child from her parents and then murder it,” wrote David Ezra Nabasu.

“This is a very painful one,” said a Facebook account.

To kidnap this child and feed her rat poison after collecting N6,000,000. What???

“Something is wrong with a system that allows anyone to engage in kidnapping.

“I truly hope this precious child’s death makes us think. Nobody is safe if a caregiver can kidnap children.
