The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a challenge to Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle to address the state’s insecurity.
Professor Kabiru Jabaka, the state PDP Deputy Chairman, told journalists on Monday in Gusau that over 50 people had been killed in the previous three days.
While describing the state’s security challenges as alarming, the opposition party also claimed that an unspecified number of people had been kidnapped.
The Matawalle-led administration, according to the party, lacks the political will to effectively address the state’s security situation.

“Our leadership in the state is dishonourable at this very critical time, at this very challenging time when the state is profusely bleeding, lives are lost every day, and more than 50 people have been killed in three days,” Jabaka said.
While accusing the governor of being insensitive to Zamfara residents’ plight, the PDP chieftain claimed the governor left the state to watch wrestling in Niger State.
Governor Matawalle, according to Jabaka, should stay in the state to console communities that have recently lost family members due to banditry.
“Houses have been set on fire, and several people have been kidnapped,” he continued, “and the state’s governor can leave the state and the country only to watch wrestling in Niger.”
“This is very unfortunate, and it demonstrates the government’s insensitivity to the suffering of the people of Zamfara State.”
In terms of projects, the PDP claims that the state government in Zamfara has not started or completed a single capital project.
