The Lagos State Government has announced that on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, all public and private schools in the state below the tertiary level will reopen for the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session.

Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, announced this on Friday in a statement titled, ‘Lagos public and private schools resume Tuesday, January 4, 2022, for second term’.
Seriki-Ayeni stated that all students are expected to return to school on the same day because academic activities begin on the same day.
“The Director-General wishes all students and teachers a happy return to school while urging all school leaders to strictly enforce all COVID-19 safety protocols in effect in the state.”

“School leaders should also be aware that the second term’s Mid-Term Break will take place on Thursday, February 17th and Friday, February 18th, 2022, with school closing on Friday, April 8th, 2022,” the statement added.
In order to prepare for academic activities, Seriki-Ayeni advised boarding students to return on Monday, January 3, 2022.
The Office of Education Quality Assurance will monitor compliance with the resumption date in the Lagos State Unified Academic Calendar, as well as observe the teaching and learning process in schools, she added.
