In the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bandits have killed ten people and kidnapped 33 women in seven villages.
Other residents were said to have fled to Gusau town for safety reasons, as there were no security agents in the villages to deal with the bandits.
Malam Shehu Kura, an indigene who escaped to Gusau’s Damba area, told our correspondent that on Sunday, bandits on motorcycles moved from village to village looting shops and houses.

He emphasized that the hoodlums operated in the seven villages for many hours without the intervention of security agents.
“They were in the area for many hours,” Kura said, “searching from house to house for food and other valuables.”
According to the witness, the bandits kidnapped 33 women and stole a large amount of food.
“They kidnapped ten women from Kura village, nine from Bayawuri, seven from Gana, and seven more from Doma,” he continued.
The resident also stated that the bandits shot and killed ten people as they attempted to flee, while several others were injured.
People from the seven affected villages fled to Gusau town, according to Kura, who added that most of the victims were squatting in deplorable conditions due to a lack of housing.
“Despite the harsh conditions of the harmattan, most of us sleep outside or in open places because we have no other option,” he said.

He pleaded with authorities to help them, lamenting the fact that the majority of the victims were women and children.
Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, the state Commissioner of Information, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
The commissioner, on the other hand, told the BBC Hausa Service that he was only aware of the attack on Geba village and that security agents had been dispatched there.
