Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, has urged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to consider repairing some of the state’s major roads.
Senator Kalu listed the dilapidated roads as Umuahia-Uzuakoli, Akara-Alayi, Igbere-Item, and Abiriba-Ohafia in a terse statement forwarded to DAILY POST on Saturday.
The ex-Abia Governor also denied that the poor road conditions are due to federal infrastructure, insisting that they are due to state infrastructure.

“Despite not falling into my senatorial role, I had originally appropriated One Billion Naira as part of the 2021 capital project,” he said, “but the Federal Ministry of Works has yet to take action.”
“When I was Governor, I built and maintained the road.” Despite being one of Abia’s busiest roads, there has been no new investment on the road since I left,” he added.
Kalu also urged the State Governor to take immediate action to relieve the congestion on that road.
