Before he was offered the job, Ralf Rangnick reached an agreement with Manchester United’s board of directors that Cristiano Ronaldo would be a key member of his squad.
Rangnick’s appointment as interim manager of Manchester United was announced last week, and the German received his work permit on Wednesday. He will take charge of the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The 63-year-old German coach has previously worked with Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim, and RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Rangnick spoke about the legendary Portugal captain in his first meeting with the English media on Friday, saying, “Seeing Cristiano at 36… At that age, I’ve never seen a player who is physically fit.”
Fabrizio Romano, a well-known sports journalist, claimed that the new manager had already agreed with the club’s board to find a way for Ronaldo to participate in his team.
“Despite fake speculations, Ralf Rangnick told the Man United board in his first conversation that Cristiano Ronaldo will be considered a ‘key player’ without a doubt,” he tweeted.
