Mustapha Baba, a 26-year-old unemployed man, was remanded in custody by the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday for defiling a four-year-old girl.
The defendant was remanded in Kirikri prison custody by Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not accept the defendant’s plea.
Ms Kubeinje, on the other hand, told the cops to send the case file to the state’s director of public prosecutions (DPP) for review.

She postponed the case until January 25, 2022, to await the advice of the DPP.
Mr Baba, a resident of Ayobo, Lagos, is facing defilement charges.
Bisi Ogunleye, the prosecutor’s lawyer, told the court that the defendant committed the crime at his home in September.
He claimed the defendant had improper knowledge of the minor.
“The defendant enticed the young lady into his room and engaged in sexual activity with her.” “When the girl’s mother realized her daughter had been defiled, she confronted her, and the girl told her what the defendant had done to her,” the prosecutor explained. “The case was reported to the police station, and the defendant was arrested.”
