Between November 11 and November 25, troops killed 128 bandits and arrested 64 others in various theaters of operations across the North West and North Central, according to the military.

Brig.-Gen. Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, said this in Abuja while briefing journalists on military operations.

According to him, the bandits were killed because they were hell-bent on destroying the country.

Onyeuko described the operation as a series of land and air operations carried out at Runka and Nasarawa villages in Safana Local Government Area, as well as Kaiga Mallammai village in Katsina State.

During that time, he said, the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI killed 118 people, arrested 12 criminals, and rescued five kidnapped victims across the theater.

“Several airstrikes were carried out on bandit enclaves during the focus period, inflicting heavy casualties on the bandits.”

“Among them is a camp used by a bandit kingpin, Bello Guda Turji, his subordinate commander, Bello Buza, and other foot soldiers operating in Sokoto and Zamfa State.

“As a result of the airstrikes, scores of armed bandits were neutralized, including their key leaders and foot soldiers, as well as their structures, equipment, weapons, and logistic supplies were destroyed.

“Aerial patrols have been increased across the theater to deny bandits and other criminal elements freedom of action in the zone,” he said.
