Samuel has confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang that has participated in various kidnappings and robberies in the state, according to the State’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Tunde Mobayo, who paraded the dismissed cop among other kidnap suspects in Ado Ekiti yesterday.
The woman who staged her own kidnapping, according to the police chief, was apprehended after an extensive investigation.
Mobayo, who was represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu, said that on November 20, 2021, RRS operatives received a distress call from one Nana, who said she and other passengers were kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Ifaki-Oye-Ekiti Road.

“She called her husband and told him the kidnappers were demanding N50,000 in ransom before she could be released,” he said. The RRS operatives combed the bush along Ifaki/Oye-Ekiti in their investigation before discovering that Nana kidnapped herself to extort money from her relatives. “She has admitted to committing the crime.”
Mr. Dele Jimoh and Mr. Ayeni Blessing, who were among the kidnap kingpins who abducted a petrol dealer, Mr. Suleiman Akinbami, in Ado Ekiti on January 10, 2021, were also paraded by Mobayo.
On November 6, 2021, one Adebayo Akeem Banji, Ogunremi Bunmi, Ige Adu, and Jimoh Fayoke were arrested for alleged conspiracy, armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping, murder, and unlawful possession of firearms, according to the police commissioner.
Dele and Blessing allegedly fled after learning that some of his criminal gang members had been apprehended by RRS operatives and had made confessional statements, according to Mobayo.
“Police investigations also led to the arrest of one Johnson Apotire, who confessed to being a member of the notorious kidnapping gang and further stated that, due to his physical resemblance to a Fulani man, he usually impersonates Fulani herdsmen.”
Dele was apprehended in the city of Ilorin, in the state of Kwara. He admitted to being the notorious kidnapping gang’s third in command. He claimed that he specializes in burglary and theft, including motorcycle theft, and that he has broken into more than ten shops/houses and stolen more than 12 motorcycles.”
