Group applauds military for putting pressure on insurgents, bandits

The Nigeria Must Survive Initiative, a peace advocacy group, has praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the pressure it is currently exerting on insurgent groups, bandits, and criminals in the country.

According to the group, the recent and frequent change of leadership in Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram, as well as the killing of their members in an ambush in Pulka general area and four others at Ngwom community in Mafa Local Government Area, Borno state on Tuesday evening, demonstrate that the AFN has maintained relentless pressure on the insurgents.

The peace group said in a press release signed by Secretary Demola Akanbi on Thursday that the repentance of 17,000 insurgents confirmed by the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, ‘Operations Hadin Kai,’ Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, is a welcome development.

The group urged the AFN to keep up the pressure and bring those threatening the country’s peace to their knees.

“We want to thank the Nigerian Armed Forces, led by Gen. LEO Irabor, for maintaining pressure on those who oppose Nigeria’s peace.” The recent results in the war against insurgency demonstrate that the tactics implemented by the current leadership are effective.

The role of synergy, which is currently the anchor of our military’s successes in the onslaught against terrorists, cannot be overstated in the “Nigeria Must Survive Initiative.”

The group urged the terrorists to lay down their weapons in order for peace to reign.

“We appeal to terrorists, bandits, and other criminals to lay down their arms and allow the country to progress socioeconomically.”
