Ahead of the governorship election in Anambra state on November 6, prominent leaders in the South East region, led by the South-East Council of Traditional Rulers and Christian leaders, have urged the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to them in order to put an end to the region’s bloodshed and destruction.

While urging the Federal Government to de-proscribe IPOB and release its detained members, the leaders also urged IPOB not to interfere with the election’s smooth running.
It also demanded that all scheduled sit-at-home orders be canceled, claiming that they have already wreaked havoc on our people.
The South-East Council of Traditional Rulers and representatives of Igbo Archbishops and Bishops issued a joint statement on Sunday urging the Federal Government to de-militarize the region.
