Ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, some South South APC support groups in the party have endorsed Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the former governor of Borno State, as the party’s next national chairman.
Comrade Jator Abido, on behalf of Senator Sheriff, reached the decision during consultative meetings with various groups including youth groups, women groups, and the party’s regional stakeholders caucus.
In separate remarks, the groups praised Modu Sheriff for having the right credentials to ensure the APC’s victory in the 2023 general elections.
According to a statement signed by Comrade Jator Abido, the various groups are planning a solidarity rally in Delta State to support Sheriff as the region’s consensus candidate for the position of APC national chairman.

“Senator Ali Modu Sheriff is the best candidate for the APC national championship position because he possesses the necessary credentials to ensure the party’s victory in 2023. He is a bridge builder with the dexterity to bring disparate interests across the country together.
“After careful deliberation, the groups unanimously agreed that Sen Sheriff is the only person who can ensure that what is due to the region is preserved. As a result, a solidarity rally and endorsement will be held on October 30th in Delta State to declare support for Sen Ali Modu Sherif as a consensus candidate for the South South. Every member of the party will benefit from increased dividends under a Sheriff chairmanship, according to the statement.
