In Nigeria, 191 of 433 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Abuja

On Thursday, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, topped the statistics for new COVID-19 infections, surpassing Lagos, which has been the epicenter of the Nigerian pandemic.

According to data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday morning, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had 191 new cases, while Lagos came in second with 79.

The overall number of infections in the country now stands at 203,514.

On Thursday, the state of Anambra in eastern Nigeria recorded 63 cases.

Rivers (27), Plateau (13), Oyo (10), Delta (9), Ondo (8), Edo (7), Gombe (6), Akwa Ibom (5), Borno (5), Ekiti (4), Bayelsa (2), Zamfara (2), Enugu (1), and Kano (1) are among the other states (1).

According to the NCDC, 191,950 Nigerians have been released across the country, while 8,988 have been detained.

According to the center, 2,997,060 million people out of a population of around 200 million have been tested.

The NCDC stated that the national response actions are still being coordinated by a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) that has been activated at Level II.

The second round of COVID-19 mass vaccinations began in August and is still going on across the country.
