Bandits raided Milgoma, a hamlet near the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, Kaduna state, and killed one soldier and kidnapped four others.
A wife, her daughter, and two sons were among those seized by the gunman.
However, the Kaduna police and military authorities have yet to corroborate the alleged occurrence on Monday night.
In an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Milgoma community, simply known as Sani, said that the bandits stormed the region in huge numbers around 9 p.m.
They proceeded straight to the home of a male lecturer at Kaduna State University, he added, with the goal of kidnapping him.
According to Sani, soldiers stationed in the region responded quickly to a distress call from nearby neighbors.
The criminals quickly attacked the security personnel in a furious fire battle as they saw them, he explained.
One of the troops who advanced to the lecturer’s home was reportedly shot by gunmen who had already set up an ambush around the compound.
The security worker was taken to a hospital and later died, according to reports.
Soldiers, on the other hand, uncovered the body of one of the bandits who died from bullet wounds.

The soldiers, according to Sani, were able to prevent the criminals from seizing the lecturer.
The shooters then moved to another part of the town, where they abducted the woman and her three children, he claimed.
Milgoma was attacked a day after gunmen killed 12 people in Peigyim hamlet in the state’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, reported that the community was attacked on Sunday night, with intruders opening fire on the residents.
Two additional residents were hurt in the incident and were transported to the hospital for treatment, while the state’s security services stated they were already searching the area in the hopes of apprehending the offenders.
